(Attack on Titan Season 4) Episode 1: Across the Island anime review

 * Spoiler Alert: This article contains leaked stories from the Attack on Titan Season 4 series which could disturb those of you who haven't watched it yet.

After a long wait, finally Attack on Titan Final Season is out. This time, with an animation style that is increasingly similar to the manga's, this final season features the finish that fans have been waiting for since its first season was released in 2013.

Eren Jaeger's journey is indeed long. Starting from the attack by the Colossal Titan which changed his life until now it is getting closer to the answer he has been looking for so far.

You can watch Attack on Titan Season 4 on Netflix every week on Thursday around 23.00 WIB. Well, on Thursday, December 10, 2020, the first episode has just been released, taking you across the island, the place that Armin Arlert has been talking about since the first episode of Attack on Titan.

As expected, in the pilot episode of Attack on Titan Season 4, you are immediately presented with a scene of war across the island. For manga readers, this first episode is very detailed, showing the scene in the manga from the point of view of the camera.

From the anime style, it seems that MAPPA wants to be more honest with the manga so that the details of the expressions and characters will be different from the three previous seasons where the anime is still being worked on with Wit Studio.

Opening with the narrative of a soldier who is resigned to accepting his death on the battlefield, the pilot of this episode immediately gives a picture of hope in despair amidst a chaotic world. Of course, you won't feel the same shock because you saw the Colossal Titan at the opening of the first season. However, this fourth season shows that the despair of the inhabitants of this world is the same and it's all because of Titan.

In the midst of the war between Eldian and Marley, Falco saw a free-flying eagle when he was about to give up. However, Colt, his brother, saved Falco and he survived. Here, you are immediately confronted by the four prospective Eldian soldiers, including one of them is Gaby who will play an important role in the following episodes.

Gaby looks a lot more annoying than his character in the manga. This idealistic and pretentious girl immediately showed a bad impression in the first episode. If you follow the struggles of Eren and the other Eldians on Paradis Island, surely you will feel the same resentment towards Gaby, huh.

Oh yes, the first episode of this last season is not for those of you who just started watching Attack on Titan, huh. You see, there are no brief reviews from the previous season. So, if you haven't watched it or maybe you forgot what happened at the end of the third season, you better watch it before starting this fourth season.

Well, this first episode really just wants to show what happened 9 years later after the events on Paradis Island when the Survey Corps was finally able to beat back the Eldian soldiers from across the island. Yep, after Levi's landslide victory and the capture of the Colossal Titan and the inhabitants of Paradis Island, this fourth season will indeed be the answer to the next steps that will be taken by Eren and the others on Paradis Island.

However, this first episode still sheds some light on what happened outside the island, about how weak the Eldians were being taken advantage of by the Marley Nation. Even though they had Titan powers, the Marley Nation still looked down on the Eldians and purposely sent them on a suicide mission. Here, the off-island cruelty is clearly visible.

When the Eldian people outside the island feel afraid of the people on Paradis Island, the people on the island who don't know what happened actually become victims of their greed. In this episode, you are introduced to Jaw Titan and will meet again with Armored Titan, Cart Titan, and Zeke who inherited the Beast Titan.

The war that has been going on for 4 years was finally won by Marley, of course, with Titan domination. Even so, their time is running out as technology has progressed and the Titan-destroying weapon has been successfully created. Because of that, even though we don't tell you directly, this first episode is enough to tell you how Marley chased the Eldians there to grab the Founding Titan from Paradis Island.

At the end of the episode, you can see Jean Kirschtein in disguise. And, if it's the same as the manga, the second episode will feature Eren in disguise too! So, let's just wait for the next episode that airs on Netflix on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

What is clear, I am very satisfied with the first episode of this last season. The only thing that was less shocking was the opening, which compared to the opening of Season 2 and Season 3, it was really unequal.

Either because this last season wanted to be made more violent so that the opening was even more absurd, or MAPPA just lost to Wit Studio about its opening animation. However, the ending in my opinion is suitable for closing this first episode.

That's my review of the anime Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 1. For those of you who have watched it, share your opinion in the column below. Wait for the next episode review only on here.
